The Baseball Hall Of Fame released its 2009 candidate ballot for voting by the eligible members of the Baseball Writers' Association Of America (BBWAA).
I'll be doing full player reviews over the next few days, but for now, the candidates on the ballot by name. At a headcount of 23, this is the smallest ballot in Hall history.
Returning candidates: Harold Baines, Bert Blyleven, Andre Dawson, Tommy John, Don Mattingly, Mark McGwire, Jack Morris, Dale Murphy, Dave Parker, Tim Raines, Jim Rice, Lee Smith, Alan Trammell.
First time candidates: Jay Bell, David Cone, Ron Gant, Mark Grace, Rickey Henderson, Jesse Orosco, Dan Plesac, Greg Vaughn, Mo Vaughn and Matt Williams
This will be the 15th and final BBWAA ballot for John and Rice.
Voting results will be announced on January 12, 2009.
